About Us

Cedar Hill Animal Rescue was founded on a lifelong love of animals, family, and community.

Three sisters grew up in a small, community called Cedar Hill, where compassion wasn’t something you learned from a book — it was simply a way of life. Raised by the best parents anyone could ask for, Connie and Hoot Wilhoit, Heather, Stephanie, and Michelle were taught early that kindness extends to every living creature, whether it walks on two legs or four. Dogs, cats, and countless other creatures found their way into their care. Caring for animals wasn’t a chore; it was simply part of who they were.

Connie and Hoot modeled generosity, hard work, community service, and respect for life, shaping values that would guide the sisters long into adulthood. As the years passed, Cedar Hill welcomed a new generation. Two granddaughters came along, bringing even more joy and energy to the family. They were immensely proud of Kurstin and Kolbie, happily watching them run and explore all over Cedar Hill, growing up surrounded by the same love for animals, people, and community that had shaped the generation before them.

Those early years planted a lasting belief: every animal deserves safety, compassion, and a chance to be loved. Cedar Hill Animal Rescue was created to carry that belief forward. What began as shared childhood experiences has grown into a mission — to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need while educating and supporting the community that surrounds them.

Today, five ladies honor the legacy of Connie and Hoot through continued service to the community and a deep love for both people and animals. The rescue stands as a living tribute to the lessons they taught: open hearts, helping hands, and the understanding that even small acts of kindness can change a life. At Cedar Hill Animal Rescue, every animal is treated like family — because that’s where this story began.
